Above Security and Forscie launch Synthetic Insider Threat Matrix for AI agents
Published 27 August 2026
WHAT HAPPENED
Above Security and Forscie launched the Synthetic Insider Threat Matrix, a framework that maps 166 knowledge objects for detecting and preventing AI insider threats. The framework covers threats like unauthorised data access, autonomous exfiltration, and privilege misuse by AI agents operating within enterprise systems.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Above Security and Forscie built the matrix together, with researchers from Above Theory also contributing. The framework extends Forscie's existing Insider Threat Matrix to address synthetic insiders.
WHY IT MATTERS
An estimated 28.6 million AI agents operated inside enterprises in 2025, projected to reach 2.2 billion by 2030, and many hold standing access to sensitive information like CRM records, source code, and finance systems. The matrix provides security teams with standardised terminology, detection techniques, and investigation reporting language similar to MITRE ATT&CK.
