Published 27 September 2026
WHAT HAPPENED
Lastwall closed a $16 million Series A extension investment round led by the Business Development Bank of Canada through its StrongNorth Fund. The funding round also included the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, Frostbite Capital, Blue Bear Capital, BlueWing Ventures, and 18West.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Lastwall is a Fredericton-based cybersecurity company that builds identity authentication and quantum-resistant software. The company serves the U.S. Department of Defense and Canadian government agencies, with Major General Peter Dawe recently joining its board as Vice President of Defence Strategy at BDC.
WHY IT MATTERS
The capital will expand Lastwall's deployment of quantum-resistant security across North American defense infrastructure, utilities, and public sector systems vulnerable to state-sponsored attacks. The company's behavioral telemetry and post-quantum cryptography platform is designed to protect critical infrastructure like power grids and water systems against future quantum-enabled threats.
