Act Security Makes First Acquisition One Month After Emerging From Stealth, Acquires Cloud Copilot and Launches Amphi
Published 5 September 2026
WHAT HAPPENED
Act Security acquired Cloud Copilot, an open-source AWS access-control project, one month after emerging from stealth in July 2024 with $60 million in funding. The company will integrate Cloud Copilot into Amphi, a free, open-source toolkit for analyzing and testing AWS access permissions.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Act Security was founded by Jonathan Langer, Itay Kirshenbaum, Stephan Goldberg, and Ilai Fallach, with investors including Team8, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Notable Capital. Cloud Copilot founder David Kerber joins Act as part of the deal.
WHY IT MATTERS
Cloud engineers struggle to determine what access permissions actually grant before changes go live, a problem that grows as companies accumulate cloud accounts, applications, and AI agents. Amphi's seven tools address this by expanding wildcard permissions, simulating policy changes, and identifying oversized policies, helping platform teams manage access sprawl that CISOs identify as a priority.
