AI Agent Firewall Startup AIR Security Emerges From Stealth With $50 Million

WHAT HAPPENED
AIR Security raised $50 million in Series A funding led by Sequoia Capital and Greenoaks. The AI security startup, founded in February 2026 by Yair Saban and Niv Hoffman, emerged from stealth with the round, which also included participation from Swish Ventures, Netz, and investors including Zach Frankel and Yinon Costica.
WHO IS INVOLVED
AIR Security employs 40 people in Israel and recently hired Ryan Knisley, former CISO of Disney and Costco, as chief strategy officer. The company builds an inline firewall platform designed to protect AI agents by filtering malicious content, untrusted tools and compromised information before they reach an agent's decision-making process.
WHY IT MATTERS
As enterprises deploy AI agents with access to expanding tools, websites and internal information, new security risks emerge from malicious content influencing agent behavior rather than just overpermissioning. AIR's research found over 17,800 public AI add-ons with 6.7 million installations using untrusted sources, and identified malicious Skills impersonating OpenAI and Anthropic, highlighting why organizations need dedicated protection for their agent supply chains.
