Cloudsmith joined Chainguard's Athena coalition as a shield partner, alongside nine other companies including Palo Alto Networks, Apiiro, and ReversingLabs. The coalition combines vulnerability and patch data into security mitigations like firewall rules and exploit blocking.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Cloudsmith partners with Chainguard and ten other organizations across shield and surface partners to address open source security threats. The coalition includes AHEAD, Apiiro, HCLTech, Manifest Cyber, OLIGO Security, Palo Alto Networks, ReversingLabs, Surf AI, and Sysdig.
WHY IT MATTERS
Open source registries face growing pressure from AI-powered threat actors, and the coalition aims to close the gap between when a security fix exists and when it gets deployed across organizations' software stacks. Protecting open source as trustworthy infrastructure requires coordination across multiple security vendors.
