Dallas Cybersecurity Company Elisity Agrees to $1.3B Acquisition by Quantum Computing Company IonQ
Acquired by IonQ
Published 17 October 2026
WHAT HAPPENED
IonQ, a publicly traded quantum computing company based in College Park, Maryland, agreed to acquire Elisity, a Dallas-based cybersecurity company, in an all-stock deal valued at up to $1.3 billion. The deal is expected to close later this year, with Elisity's CEO James Winebrenner remaining in his role after the acquisition.
WHO IS INVOLVED
IonQ, led by Chairman and CEO Niccolo de Masi, is acquiring privately held Elisity, which has raised $70.5 million from investors including Atlantic Bridge and Allegis Capital since its 2018 founding. Elisity has completed more than 100 customer deployments worldwide, including MultiCare Health System.
WHY IT MATTERS
The acquisition positions IonQ to expand in the microsegmentation market, projected to grow from $8.2 billion in 2025 to over $41 billion by 2034. By combining Elisity's identity-based network segmentation platform with IonQ's post-quantum cryptography and quantum key distribution offerings, the combined company can help enterprises protect against both current and quantum computing threats.
