WHAT HAPPENED
Databricks expanded its partnership with SAP at SAPTechEd 2026. The companies launched the SAP Application Data Foundation, a new capability that simplifies access to cloud and on-premises application data within SAP Databricks. The partnership also brings Genie, Lakebase, Unity Gateway, and Lakeflow to the platform.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Databricks and SAP partnered on this initiative. Databricks has 1.4 million LinkedIn followers and announced the news at SAPTechEd, SAP's annual technology conference.
HOW IT WORKS
The SAP Application Data Foundation reduces the need for custom data pipelines by providing simplified access to application data stored in SAP systems, whether in the cloud or on premises. Teams can then deploy that data across analytics, applications, and AI agents through tools like Genie, Lakebase, Unity Gateway, and Lakeflow.
WHY IT MATTERS
AI systems need business context to be effective, and much of that context lives within SAP systems. By integrating SAP data more directly into Databricks, the partnership lowers total cost of ownership and accelerates time to value for enterprises looking to apply AI across their operations.
THE DEAL
The companies announced the partnership but did not disclose financial terms or deal structure.
