RapidFort Partners with GitLab to Deliver Hardened Container Images for Self-Managed Deployments
Published 3 November 2026
WHAT HAPPENED
RapidFort partners with GitLab to deliver hardened container images for GitLab Self-Managed deployments. The hardened images are available today and designed for teams running GitLab on-premises or in air-gapped environments with regulated workloads.
WHO IS INVOLVED
RapidFort and GitLab collaborate on this partnership. RapidFort provides the container hardening technology, while GitLab provides the base container images and deployment platform that teams use to manage their software development lifecycle.
HOW IT WORKS
RapidFort creates container images with near-zero CVE counts, continuously patched as upstream fixes arrive. The images include STIG-hardened configurations with FIPS-validated OpenSSL, minimal variants with unused packages and shells removed, and audit-ready compliance evidence. The hardened images maintain GitLab's existing functionality and version tags, allowing teams to adopt them without changing their build and deployment processes.
WHY IT MATTERS
The partnership addresses compliance requirements for regulated deployments. Organizations using GitLab on-prem can now meet FedRAMP, CMMC, CRA, SOC 2, and CIS assessment standards while reducing their attack surface and managing vulnerability exposure across their software supply chain.
THE DEAL
The announcement does not disclose financial terms or specific deal structure details.
