Sonatype Launches Nexus Repository Pro+ with Built-in Repository Firewall

WHAT HAPPENED
Sonatype launched Nexus Repository Pro+, a new product version that includes built-in Repository Firewall capabilities. The firewall automatically blocks or quarantines malicious, vulnerable, and out-of-policy software components when developers or AI agents request them during the build process.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Sonatype, a software supply chain security company, developed the product. The solution targets developers and organizations using Nexus Repository for managing software dependencies, particularly those adopting AI agents for development tasks.
WHY IT MATTERS
AI systems are increasingly selecting software dependencies without human oversight, and catching security issues after the build is too late. By moving security controls into the repository layer, Sonatype enables organizations to prevent bad code from entering development while helping developers move faster rather than slowing them down with rework.
