WHAT HAPPENED
Gray Swan launched the IPI Black red-teaming challenge with a $300,000 prize pool across three waves running October 15, 22, and 29. Participants compete in white box and black box attack modes to trick AI agents into posting damaging content on simulated social media accounts by exploiting indirect prompt injection vulnerabilities.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Gray Swan partnered with Anthropic, Meta, Google DeepMind, Reflection, OpenAI, Amazon, Thinking Machines Lab, and the AI Security Institute to organize the challenge.
WHY IT MATTERS
The challenge generates attack data that helps frontier AI labs evaluate how robust their models are against prompt injection exploits, contributing to developing safer and more secure AI systems.
