WHAT HAPPENED
Palo Alto Networks partnered with IBM to deliver next-generation cloud-based security solutions for the NHS Secure Boundary programme. The service will protect internet traffic and infrastructure across more than 200 NHS trusts, 55,000 organisations handling health data, and approximately 2 million devices.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Palo Alto Networks, IBM Consulting, and NHS England are collaborating on the programme. The solution supports over 1.5 million NHS staff and operates on a nationally integrated, centrally funded model.
WHY IT MATTERS
Healthcare remains one of the most impacted sectors by cyber incidents according to IBM's Cost of a Data Breach Report. The NHS aims to achieve cyber resilience across all health organisations by 2030, and this consolidated "Defend as One" approach reduces complexity while allowing individual organisations to maintain local control over their security policies.
