WHAT HAPPENED
Risk Ledger joined the second cohort of the UK Government's Software Security Ambassador Scheme, run by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the National Cyber Security Centre. The company takes on a role as an expert advisor to promote software security practices across its network.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Risk Ledger partners with the UK government agencies DCMS and NCSC. Other ambassadors in the scheme include Capgemini, Fortinet, QinetiQ, SANS Institute, Thales, and Zscaler.
HOW IT WORKS
Risk Ledger committed to promote the Software Security Code of Practice, which sets out 14 principles for building and maintaining secure software, across its network of more than 20,000 organisations. The company will help buyers and suppliers put the Code into practice and share learnings with DCMS and NCSC. The Code gives buyers a clear standard to ask software suppliers for and gives suppliers a recognised way to demonstrate their practices.
WHY IT MATTERS
Weaknesses in external software affect every customer using it and every organisation that relies on those customers. A common standard makes supply chain risk easier to manage together across organisations that share suppliers, moving from siloed risk management to collaborative third-party risk management.
THE DEAL
No financial terms or pricing details were disclosed.
