Oracle Authorizes Seal Security to Sign Java Cryptographic Providers

WHAT HAPPENED
Oracle authorized Seal Security to digitally sign Java cryptographic providers. Seal Security's sealed versions of BouncyCastle for Java carry Oracle's cryptographic signature, making them trusted by Oracle's JDK in the same way as upstream JAR files.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Seal Security partnered with Oracle. BouncyCastle, a widely-used Java cryptographic library, is the subject of the authorization.
WHY IT MATTERS
BouncyCastle published 57 CVEs since April, with 49 appearing in the last two months. Seal Security's sealed versions patch these vulnerabilities in the existing version customers already run, reducing the need for major updates.
