WHAT HAPPENED
Sardine launched Know Your Human (KYH), a protocol designed to address fraud and checkout issues in agentic commerce. The protocol enables AI agents to share the shopper's real device and IP information with merchants during transactions, solving the problem where agent-initiated orders appear to come from cloud browsers with no legitimate device signals.
WHO IS INVOLVED
Sardine built the protocol and is seeking design partners across agentic commerce and agentic banking to develop the specification further. Merchants and agent builders are the intended users who can adopt KYH independently without waiting for the other party to implement it first.
HOW IT WORKS
KYH operates through HTTP headers that pass the shopper's real device and IP information from the agent to the merchant, making agent orders appear identical to direct shopper checkouts. Merchants also have the option to step up agent orders by sending the shopper a confirmation link via SMS, allowing them to verify the purchase from their own phone.
WHY IT MATTERS
Merchants currently face a choice between declining legitimate AI agent orders or approving them without device or IP evidence to fight chargebacks. KYH solves this by providing merchants the same transaction signals they would see from a normal checkout, reducing fraud risk while enabling commerce driven by AI agents to proceed smoothly.
THE DEAL
No financial terms or pricing information was disclosed in the announcement.
